Polished concrete flooring combines a natural stone lookwith the modern feel of high-gloss surfaces
Choosing the flooring for open-plan living areas, such as the one shown above, needs careful thought especially if the area has a pale or neutral colour scheme. Flooring of a darker hue, or with a distinctive pattern or finish, may be needed to anchor the area visually.
One option is polished concrete flooring. Its high-gloss sheen brings depth and visual interest to interior spaces. Outside the home, its durability and versatility makes it suitable for hard landscaping projects such as pool areas and walkways, says Jason Torbet of Polished Concrete.
"Polished concrete is up to 20 times more polished than concrete flooring, as we grind and polish the concrete rather than coating the surface," he says. "It has a natural stone look that keeps its sheen over time, and its hard-wearing surface is easy to keep clean."
Polished concrete can be mixed with other materials such as glass, pebbles, stones and shells. A range of coatings and decorative effects can also be specified for bespoke designs.
The company provides full project management, and has the experience and specialist equipment to handle large commissions such as shops and offices.
