This refined master suite makes much of concrete – used in different forms it creates a refined, layered theme that connects with the wider home

Designed by Giorgi

From the designer:

This master ensuite – part of a home designed by Giorgi where the owners’ love of concrete was a driving force in the design – uses concrete in three forms, layering the finishes for a common theme.

Design Statement

An expansive concrete vanity with formed basins runs wall to wall, with storage embedded into the wall behind in the mirrored cabinetry.

The floor is in situ poured and burnished concrete, while the benchtop and basins are a Fiber Reinforced Concrete. Completing the trifecta, the splashback and rear wall is a Marbellino plaster finish.

Pairing concrete with gunmetal tapware and a matte white free bath adds a level of luxury to the space.

The freestanding bath is centred on an amazing view of the Swan River and vineyards below.

The design brief spoke of making this feel like a room, not a typical wet room. Incorporating the concrete floors throughout and linking internal furnishings like the curtains enables us to achieve this. Minimising the use of tile also contributed.

Having concrete floors throughout was an innovative design consideration as this surface flows right through to the shower. However, this approach meant that the pour had to be done with absolute precision.

The master suite’s simplicity in form is a design consideration to really allow the material and texture to be the hero of the space, expressing its true form and tactility.
