A prominent feature in the Kitchens by Design showroom is the freestanding stainless steel benchtop, containing the Smeg five gas burner cooktop. Electrical wires are concealed within the structure for an uncluttered look. The surface of the bench provides additional work space.Above the cooktop two stainless steel ventilation canopies were custom designed. Their clean geometric lines echo the linear appeal of the oven tower of a Smeg convection microwave and a Smeg multifunctional oven, says Gillbanks."The visual appeal of Smeg appliances provided inspiration for some key aesthetic features. These stainless steel pieces enhance, rather than dominate, the room."A stainless steel trim kit around the Smeg microwave ensures it fits seamlessly into the space below the oven.
