Commanding presence
This bold contemporary kitchen design is enhanced in looks and in performance by smart appliances from Smeg
The old saying that the proof is in the pudding is nowhere more applicable than when choosing kitchen appliances. Not only must these look good, they must work well too, being able to cater for the modern taste for diverse cuisine and the designer's desire for visual impact.
This renovated kitchen by designer Melanie Stewart boasts an eclectic mix of original and modern elements. In it, Smeg appliances are teamed with stainless steel benchtops and black lacquered cabinetry for a bold visual statement.
In addition to its distinctive appearance, Smeg's SA995RX oven has a range of technical features to assist the household chef in creating a variety of dishes. It has eight cooking functions with an additional defrost mode and its large 92-litre capacity makes it suitable for entertaining.
Smeg's CIR93AX 90cm-wide gas cooktop has five burners, including an ultra-rapid triple burner designed for wok cooking, and a rectangular fish burner. A simmer control on each burner allows the flame to be adjusted for gentle low-heat simmering.
Above the cooktop, the P780 Omega rangehood has a four-speed fan for efficient odour extraction.
