Pink for a girl, blue for a boy old traditions die hard, but children today are much more likely to have strong opinions about the way their rooms are decorated. And more than likely it will be a bright colour choice.

Resene has literally hundreds of options, including Resene Spray, which features in this child's bedroom in a new house built by Town & Country Residential.

Such a vast palette of colours can be daunting however, which is why Resene introduced the KidzColour range. Marketing manager Karen Warman says this collection pulls together a range of 72 hues and metallics, and is designed for kids of all ages.

"The colours have been tested with children of varying ages, to help determine the range, which is focused on bright bold, full-chroma hues and metallics," she says. "These shades make a strong statement by themselves, or can be combined to create an invigorating scheme. The range also offers a smaller palette of 18 soft pastels that can be mixed and matched."

Resene recommends children's rooms are painted in Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen low-odour, waterborne enamel. This tough, acrylic paint provides a durable, washable, enamel-like finish.
