Colonial expansion
Ornate wood elements were central to many of the rooms much of this was undertaken by Glenn Pope Woodworking
The home's interiors reflect not only a close attention to traditional Spanish detail, but also to painstaking manufacture and finish. Architect James Bourret handed his intricate drawings for the custom guest room headboards, guest kitchen cabinetry, and dining table to an experienced woodworking specialist.
Glenn Pope Woodworking was asked by Ellis Construction to provide a variety of handcrafted elements for the home, says president Glenn Pope.
"This was a complex woodworking undertaking," says Pope. "For example, the guest bedroom headboards included laminated curved elements. In addition, we were careful to line up all grains on both the mahogany frames and mahogany cabinetry doors for these pieces."
The artisan also created cabinetry for the lower-level kitchen, and the dining table for the home.
"The dining table was built from mahogany veneer set over a stiff plywood frame," says Pope. "This construction prevents warping or shrinking from swings in temperature meaning the table will have a longevity similar to the home itself."
