COASTAL GEM
On the beachfront in Surfers Paradise, the curvilinear form of this luxury development informs the relaxed and generous living spaces within
Creating beach apartments suitable for living in year round, with the volume and amenities of large, detached properties, was the concept driving the Jade development in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
Designed by Planit Architects in conjunction with developer Bezzina, the 15-storey, elliptically shaped tower comprises twelve 380m² apartments, each one extending over an entire floor. There is a three-storey penthouse, two beach houses and a swimming pool in a lagoon-style garden setting. Each apartment has three or four bedrooms with ensuites, a media room, open-plan living, dining and kitchen, plunge pool and large balconies that wrap around most of the tower. A restricted palette of concrete, glass, sandstone and copper alloy for the exterior, and natural materials in neutral tones for the interiors, was selected to suggest both beachside living and refined sophistication.
At 55 metres high, Jade is not tall by Gold Coast standards, but the architect has made its presence felt with distinctive curves, feature sandstone cladding, and a vertical blade in copper alloy tiles that crowns the development and anchors it visually.
