Prizewinners in the annual NKBA design awards highlight the wealth of talent among members
Keeping up with the latest trends in bathroom design can be as simple as checking out the winners in a national design competition.
The bathrooms on these pages are the winning entries in the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association's Bathroom of the Year competition. NKBA executive director Nicki Mills says the calibre of these entries reflects the high standard of design expertise in the association.
"The creativity and innovation we see year after year is a credit to members, who can hold their own on the world stage when it comes to design," she says.
The Bathroom of the Year Award was won by John Gaynor of Indesign, Christchurch, who was also the Regional Winner for Canterbury. His winning entry features a long floating vanity in oak veneer with a white engineered stone top. A luxurious bathtub fits snugly between the vanity and shower walls.
Natalie Du Bois of Dubois Design, Auckland won the Runner Up bathroom design award. Her design included a light oak veneer vanity with chunky legs and a slatted shelf for towels. This room also features a freestanding tub.
Peter Young of Waikanai Kitchen & Joinery, Wellington won the award for Best Renovation Bathroom. His design incorporated an elevated tub and wenge timber veneer cabinets.
