Sparkling quartz surfaces will enhance any kitchen. However, looks are not the only consideration when choosing countertops. Durability is important and so too is cleanliness.

Silestone from Cosentino has long been a popular surfacing material, thanks to its eye-catching looks and the fact that it is non-porous and scratch-, stain- and scorch-resistant. Now there's another benefit to add to this list antimicrobial protection.

Following the signing of an exclusive contract with Microban International, Silestone has secured the proprietary rights to incorporate Microban protection within its natural quartz surfacing materials. This means the surface will remain cleaner between cleanings for the life of your countertop.

Cosentino marketing director Monica Canales says Silestone is the only countertop that offers Microban antimicrobial protection. This is built into Silestone during the manufacturing process and does not wash off or wear off.

"Silestone with Microban protection inhibits the growth of bacteria that can cause stains and odors on the countertop surface," she says.

"Incorporating Silestone makes it even easier to keep your kitchen surfaces clean and hassle-free."

Microban protection will initially be provided in selected Silestone colors.
