Clad to attract the crowds

While the facilities offered by an events centre are critical to its success, its public face needs to be attractive and welcoming.

The front entrance facade at the new Tect Arena in Mt Maunganui is clad with Alucobest, a pre-finished aluminium product from Aliclad. Alucobest can be used as cladding and on facades, curtain walls and parapets, in a variety of shapes, angles and curves, to provide a maintenance-free finish.

Craig Webber, director of Aliclad, says his company worked with the architect to refine the design details before producing shop drawings, and supplying and installing the Alucobest cladding.

"We supplied it in Black Galaxy, a charcoal shade with a metallic fleck that glints in the sun. The Alucobest has given the building an expensive, architectural look, but at a cost-effective price."
