Urban living often means being close to your to your neighbours. This home exemplifies the possibility of creating a semi-detached house in a city setting that is both light filled and private.

Designed by Viali Architects and built by Starr Constructions, the three-storey home features a glazed atrium and stairwell. As well as allowing light to be shared between the three floors, the stairwell also acts as an internal breezeway, which can be controlled through operable louvres.

The atrium provides views from each floor into the landscaped back garden. Privacy is retained through the natural screening effect of the surrounding trees.

The open-plan living area on the ground floor opens to the outdoors. The central floor, which is level to the street entry, has a mezzanine-style formal lounge area.
