A project of this scale requires a tight hold on the reins, especially when it involves specialist elements and deadlines threatened by a poor winter.

Aspec Construction undertook management and co-ordination of the construction team at Summerset by the Park, including all suppliers and subcontractors. The company also took part in the co-ordination of the consultant team, ensuring a smooth progression towards Summerset Retirement Village attracting Lifemark status, says director Michael Barltrop.

"The timely completion of a retirement-lifestyle village of this size 94 apartments, 52 care suites and generous common areas for residents involved close interaction by all parties," says Barltrop. "The practical completion and Certificates of Public Use (CPUs) were achieved on time, ready for the client to occupy. This was despite a particularly wet winter at the critical stage of closing the building."
