Intimate knowledge of the residential market allowed one design firm to create stand-out displays for three Home Show clients

TRADE FAIRS and home shows provide businesses with the opportunity to mass-market their products to a willing and captive audience of thousands. What happens however when the crowds aren't making a bee-line for your product and how do you ensure this doesn't happen to you?

In many instances, it is not enough just to market your product, you need to market yourself as well, says Yellowfox designer Claire Bruford.

"Successful companies create an impression, not just of their merchandise, but of themselves. People like to know that there is an element of solidity to the companies they deal with."

Yellowfox was commissioned by three well-known companies Electrolux, Innovative Interiors, and Tile Warehouse to create an encompassing look for each at the recent Auckland Home Show. The idea was to not only showcase the individual products, but to create an identity that allowed each company to stand out from their competitors.

"Our intent was to establish a level of confidence in our design and quality of product by creating a visual impact. The team from Yellowfox immediately understood our intention and advised us on the colour range and design scheme that best suited our needs," says Mark Crouch of Innovative Interiors.

Design manager Shelley Brockliss says Yellowfox's core business is residential design work, and it was this experience the design team drew on when coming up with the look for each company.

"Visitors to our stand loved seeing our product in a home-like situation. Yellowfox designer Andrea White's innovative design showcased two types and thicknesses of our solid surface tops, displaying our products at their absolute best," says Tanya Smart of Tile Warehouse. A notion seconded by Megan Reeves of Electrolux.

"We wanted to create fashionable and inspirational working spaces in which to showcase our products. Drawing on their industry contacts, Yellowfox provided the fittings and fixtures to realise our design concept."
