Best face forward with Hinuera stone cladding
Hinuera Natural Stone seamlessly connects the new areas with the existing buildings.
Institutions such as schools are dynamic by nature, requiring ongoing building programmes to ensure facilities such as classrooms, sports and arts centres continue to meet the changing needs and fluctuations of student rolls.
When St Cuthbert's College embarked on its latest project, a new Performing Arts Centre, the school was keen to maintain continuity of style with existing buildings on the site.
To ensure the new facility would match the school's chapel, which had been built in 1993 and clad with Hinuera stone, the architect specified the same product, and Hinuera Natural Stone supplied its stone cladding for the exterior walls, as well as for some interior walls.
Sales manager at Hinuera Natural Stone John Simpson says it was important for St Cuthbert's College to secure its product to ensure a good match between the existing and new buildings.
"Hinuera stone is ideal for projects of this type, as the product hardly changes over time, doesn't weather to any substantial degree, and natural variations in the stone mean any differences are easily absorbed," says Simpson.
"We are often called in for advice and assistance with cladding solutions for homes that have been built many years ago using Hinuera natural stone. Once the renovations or additions have been completed, it's virtually impossible to spot the difference between the new and original parts of the house," he says.
