Behind the scenes
A Dynalite lighting control system was specified for the Westpac offices
One of the key sustainable features of the second Westpac on Takutai Square building is the lighting control system, which is designed to deliver energy savings as well as client comfort. Network Lighting commissioned the Dynalite lighting control system for the Westpac building and also for the Ernst & Young, Southern Cross Healthcare Society and Les Mills premises in the Britomart precinct.
Network Lighting managing director Geoff Bramley says the Philips Dynalite control system included Envision software that gives Westpac the ability to manage its lighting control in specific zones. "This is a smart software package with intuitive programming that gives the end-user operational control of its lighting throughout the building. It provides faster commissioning, increased flexibility and improved project documentation compared to conventional systems. It also features icon-driven menus and commissioning templates."
Bramley says daylight harvesting has been incorporated, so the artificial lighting reduces when there is sufficient natural light on the perimeter of the building. Other special features include control of RGB LED lighting; lighting control for the green wall in the atrium, which ensures plants receive the right amount of light all year round; and a lighting control interface with the audiovisual system in the AV spaces. "Our lighting control system is seamlessly integrated with the audiovisual system," says Bramley. "Similarly, the Dynalite system can control other electrical circuits, including window blinds."
