Balancing act
Respecting the heritage value of the surrounding area was an integral part of the design brief for the Bullecourt multi-use apartment complex
Preserving the integrity of the Bullecourt heritage building meant finding ways to conserve the architectural aesthetic. A roof mounted elevator engine room would have created visual noise and been a design detraction.
Incorporating the lift's engine into the elevator's guidance system is a patented innovation of Eastern Elevators, that allowed the architect to maintain the antique roof line.
Eastern Elevators is a 100% Australian owned, and has been operating for over 33 years. It has developed many significant engineering techniques to complement the changing face of building construction, says Warren Watt, managing director.
"Our strength lies in our cost effectiveness, safety standards and quality control. We provide a complete design service and 24-hour maintenance."
The absence of a machine room installed at the top of the shaft, enabled Bullecourt to increase the number of top floor units, keep motor noise away from living areas and reduce construction costs.
