In the competitive world of residential design and build, winning awards is recognition of a company's skills by other members of the same industry.

Domaine Homes has recently won a Housing Industry Association award for its latest home design, the Waterford. The award, for the Hunter Region 2005 Display Home under $250,000 category, is another accolade for the company.

Regina Barnes, sales and marketing manager for Domaine Homes, says the awards recognise the company's standard of architecture and innovative approach.

"The development of home design is an evolving process with new trends, new building products and technology all playing their part. However, the most important influences are our customers' aspirations and the style of new home they want," she says.

"The team at Domaine Homes is dedicated to meeting these aspirations through research and flexible, innovative design. We sit down with our customers and listen carefully to their individual needs in terms of style and living spaces."

Once the team at Domaine Homes has established what its customers want, it then begins tailoring its designs for a personalised family home.

"Our clients are pleasantly surprised with the value of the inclusions that are standard in a Domaine Home," she says.

The 38-square, two-storey Waterford design has five bedrooms, including a master suite with an ensuite and large parents' retreat on the upper level. Also on this level are a large rumpus room and a second bathroom.

On the lower, main living level, the free-flowing spaces include a spacious formal lounge and dining room and a home theatre. A designer kitchen and adjacent family room overlook the rear garden.

There is also a study, powder room and double garage, making it a comfortable and practical family home that's ideal for entertaining.

Domaine Homes also has display centres at Abbotsbury, Glenwood, Greystanes, and at the Home Zone display village in Hamlyn Terrace. Domaine's new Parklea display centre opens early January.
