At one with the land
Where there's a will there's a way. This pool, built by Mayfair Pools, was engineered to sit on the edge of a steep, bush-clad slope
Pool construction can be a challenge, even when there appears to be plenty of space. But a little ingenuity goes a long way, as this project shows.
Richard Rowley of Designer Pools, a Mayfair Pools agent, says fitting the pool onto the steep site was difficult.
"The pool needed to sit between a council pipeline running through the property and an existing retaining wall of unknown quality," he says. "The land drops away very steeply on the other side of the wall, so the pool was engineered to be self supporting, with no reliance on the retaining wall."
To enhance the natural setting, a schist wall and sheer descent waterfall were incorporated into the design, and the colour Beach was chosen for the interior. Contrasting flamed granite stone was specified for the coping pavers and patio.
Other special features include a cabana, outdoor fireplace and a pool cover that can be concealed beneath the deck.
Mayfair Pools specialises in fibreglass pools that can be custom built to any size and shape, to fit virtually any site. The company, which has been in business for more than 35 years, has a network of agents throughout the country.
