Architectural integrity
Historical resonance is as important as contemporary relevance in a traditional-style kitchen, according to designer Debra DeLorenzo
We seek out advice from kitchen designers because of their skill in layout, their product knowledge, and their aesthetically trained eye. But traditional kitchens require something a little extra an ability to tailor historic designs to contemporary lifestyles.
Designer Debra DeLorenzo, CKD/CBNZ, NKBA, specialises in creating kitchens that are sympathetic to the home's architectural style. This can be anything from a sleek, minimalist scheme to an elaborate decor reminiscent of another era.
"Designing a classic kitchen requires close attention to detail. If you overlook the little things, the overall scheme will suffer as a result," she says.
An ability to source crafted pieces made from quality materials ensures DeLorenzo's designs are carried through from the first idea to the final installation.
For example, this kitchen features cream lacquer joinery for the cabinetry and a combination of Kashmir white granite and maple timber benchtops.
"We offer a comprehensive service, from creating the design, to gaining building consents, to installation," she says.
Although based in Wellington, the company offers both a national and international design service.
