Approachable

As a focus for family life, a kitchen has to present a welcoming aspect. To ensure the family, as well as the cook, enjoys spending time in the kitchen it makes sense to talk to a designer that puts space, aesthetics and attention to detail high on the priority list.

Specialising in one-off designs, Scullery & Holz liaises closely with clients to ensure their final expectation are met, says managing director Stefan Mayer.

"The kitchens shown here are quite different in style, but both present a warm, functional workspace in which to spend time," says Mayer. "The cream-hued kitchen provides a light, airy space with ample cabinetry, while the white and pale green kitchen offers an open approach, with island shelves and display plate racks."

Customised, hand-painted cabinetry in both kitchens is solidly constructed with framed doors and butt hinges. Both designs have an emphasis on ample storage within easy reach of the cooking areas.

Classic elements include fluted panels, hand crafted ornamental cornices and solid stone and wooden benchtops.

"Besides modern appliances and well-designed work triangles, each kitchen has a warm, welcoming ambience," he says. "Plenty of space around the islands makes them easily approachable and provides plenty of room for breakfasting or coffee."
