Appetising palette lively colour scheme for new Asian restaurant by Resene
lively colour scheme for new Asian restaurant by Resene

It is said that warm tones not only stimulate conversation, but also the palate. Such colours are known to inject an element of fun and a feel-good factor, making the hot colour selection for this restaurant particularly appropriate.
The owners of the Lotus Asian restaurant in Marrickville, NSW asked Judith Briggs of Colour Consultants to create an upmarket look and feel for the interior. The design also needed to break up the long, relatively narrow space.

A semi-dividing wall comprising columns and a bulkhead was consequently added to the centre of the restaurant to provide visual interest. But the most significant changes were in the colour choice. The main walls were painted in Resene Joie De Vivre, a bright persimmon shade. The columns and bulkhead feature a contrasting pink Resene Raspberry. The skirting is painted in Resene Mexican Wave, a warm terracotta, and other trim features Resene Solitaire, an off-white shade. The colour scheme is complemented by five framed wallpaper panels. The rear door and street window frames are painted in Resene Dark Rum, a deep brown that matches the restaurant exterior.
Environmental Choice-approved Resene Enamacryl, Resene Lustacryl and Resene Ceiling Paint were used on the interior, and Resene Lumbersider features on the exterior.
