It's not just colour that can transform the office environment the type of paint specified can also make a big difference, as this Geyer project illustrates.

The accent wall from this office in the American Express building in Sydney is painted in Resene Gold Dust Metallic from the Resene Metallics and Special Effects colour range.

Resene marketing manager Karen Warman says the shimmering reflective qualities of the Resene Metallics and Special Effects range add an extra dimension to any space.

"These coatings give a sense of colour movement with changing light conditions," she says. "And while they can be dramatic, they can also be more subtle, depending on the depth of colour specified."

The range includes Resene Enamacryl Metallic and Resene Pearl Shimmer and Resene Pixie Dust, which are waterborne glazes that create pearlescent and softly sparkled finishes.

In addition to paints suitable for interior walls, doors, joinery and furniture, there are metallic paint systems for exterior wood, concrete and steelwork.

Resene Enamacryl Metallic, which is a waterborne paint with a metallic effect, is recommended over exterior concrete and plaster. Warman says this is also the preferred product for interior use because of its Environmental Choice approval and low VOC levels.

Where maximum durability is required for a very exposed outdoor environment, Resene Imperite is recommended. This high-performance coating is particularly appropriate for new steelwork.
