All in good taste
Sourcing product for your new kitchen has never been easier. The Architects & Designers Building presents the créme de la créme of kitchen design
Planning a kitchen involves dozens of decisions from the cabinetry and finishes to the countertops and appliances. So it's not surprising that even design professionals need a little help from time to time.
For many designers and homeowners, the first port of call is the luxury kitchen collection at the Architects & Designers Building in East Midtown Manhattan. Open to the trade and public, the kitchen showrooms contain a variety of resources to complement an affluent lifestyle whether contemporary or traditional.
The A&D Building features 13 kitchen showrooms spread over 12 floors, making it easy to compare designs and product in a single visit.
Key brands represented include many leading European manufacturers, such as Allmilmo, Boffi, Poggenpohl, SieMatic, Snaidero and Varenna by Poliform. English cabinetmaker Clive Christian, renowned for its handcrafted solid wood kitchens, is a new addition to the line-up.
There are also showrooms for leading appliance brands, including Miele, Smeg, Sub-Zero/Wolf and GE Monogram.
But it's not just kitchens in the spotlight. The A&D Building, which is managed by Merchandise Mart Properties Inc, can be likened to a high-end mini-mall for luxury kitchens and bathrooms, and related home decor. In total there are 40 showrooms displaying distinctive, premium-brand products and home furnishings.
