Built around lanes and squares, restaurants and meeting places, Freshwater Place offers refined living amongst the bustle of inner city life
The Yarra River provides a picturesque backdrop for Freshwater Place's many restaurants and bars. To enhance the views and provide maximum comfort in all weathers, a special glazing system was specified.
Already used successfully on a number of other major Australian developments, AGP Fineline-XToperable glass louvres were fitted to the bars on Freshwater Place's Yarra elevation. As well as providing natural ventilation, the toughened glass louvres provide a distinguishing feature, says AGP marketing manager Peter Nation.
"AGP offers the largest frameless glass louvre panels in the world. The fully automatic facade is operated by either switches on the wall, or automatically through the building management system. It consists of toughened glass louvres,aluminium mullions in a powdercoat finish, and cast stainless steel louvre arms," says Nation.
Operable glass louvres were not originally part of the building's design, so the Fineline-XT system was modified to suit. AGP's ability to custom design and build its louvre system specifically for Freshwater Place, along with the company's extensive glazing experience, made this achievable.
Not just a versatile ventilation option, AGP louvres are also designed to provide protection from inclement weather.
"The frameless glass panels are fitted with special bulb seals to provide greater protection from the elements and to minimise the leakage of air-conditioned air, so increasing the building's energy efficiency," says Nation.
Another role AGP played in the development was that of designing, manufacturing and installingautomatic revolving doors as ground level entrances for both the residential and commercial towers.
"AGP's revolving doors provide both aprestigious entrance to the building and a very effective airlock from the weather and high winds. They also provide energy savings from reduced air conditioning losses," says Nation.
AGP Fullview Series doors are the largest frameless glass carousel revolving doors in the world, and the only fully Australian designed and manufactured revolving door on the market.
