One way to relax in the peace of your own garden is to surround yourself with objects from a more leisurely age. But waiting for stoneware to take on the appearance and feel of traditional marble can be a slow process.

Demand for statuary aged by time and weather led Phoenix Italia to develop a process that uses crushed marble to create natural earthy surfaces, says a company spokesperson.

"The ageing process allows the statues and planters to take on the antique look of traditional marble sculptures. They will continue to age gracefully in your home or garden, becoming an heirloom you will be proud to hand down through the generations," he says.

The stoneware is suitable for homes and offices, as well as gardens. Customers can view the collection online, and at the company's showroom and gardens in Auckland. The range includes planters, urns, sculptures, furniture, fountains and ornaments.

"Whether a traditional stone cherub or a more contemporary piece fits your style, our collection includes styles, sizes and prices to appeal to anyone's taste, location or budget," he says.
