Forsyth Barr Stadium - project leader Arrow International
A large-scale project such as a stadium requires a group of skilled professionals from business analysts to designers and contractors.
Arrow International was initially appointed in 2006 to provide strategy management services including feasibility, fundraising, and a business plan for the stadium. From there, the company was appointed to a project leadership role that combined project and construction management.
Project director Lale Leremia says that unlike a more traditional project management role, the promises to deliver on time and on budget were contracted well before construction started providing early confidence in the budget and allowing the stadium to get off the ground.
Arrow was responsible for selecting the consultant team, the procurement method and design and construction solutions. Additional specific roles also included finding funds, buying land, ascertaining zoning, achieving council signoffs and obtaining agreements from future tenants including the Otago Rugby Football Union.
Malcolm Farry, chairman of Carisbrook Stadium Charitable Trust, says that Arrow International's involvement was key to the successful completion of the stadium.
"We were embarking on a significant challenge. The Trust's decision to engage Arrow International was arguably one of the most important decisions that we made," says Farry. "At the outset we were looking for a partner to help lead us through the project. Arrow's ownership of the time, cost and scope objectives is the reason this project was delivered on time, to budget and to a world class outcome."
