A place for all
The result of many skilled hands, this family home is more than the sum of its parts
The adage it takes a village to raise a child' could just as easily be applied to the collective nature of designing and building a house.
Charles R Stinson Architects and Streeter & Associates Builders, frequent collaborators, once again joined forces on the project featured on these pages.
"Together we have more than 60 years' industry experience between us," says Stinson. "Over that time we have honed our respective crafts to offer our clients the best possible service they could expect."
Known locally and internationally for his ability to orchestrate light and space, Stinson has designed a family home comprising a deft balance of openness and privacy. Well-versed in all architectural styles, the Streeter team has executed its craft with discipline and care.
"Given its natural surroundings, it was important to inject an organic feel into the property. Regional limestone and highly textural wood veneers throughout have helped achieve this," says Stinson.
"The expansive use of glass, which punctuates both horizontal and vertical planes, affords glimpses of the woodland beyond the house, creating a sense of lightness that belies expert construction."
