It is easy to be carried away by your dreams when building a new home. However, the practical issues budget, site, buildability and logistics are all down to the senior contractor.

This project was completed in just 11 months, and reflects the multifaceted expertise required to build a high-end house. It involved a complete demolition and new build of a four-storey concrete reinforced structure, all on an extremely tight excavation in rock.

Features include a suspended pool structure over the basement garage and an internal lift to the top floor, says Orth.

"In addition, a high level of internal finish was required throughout, with marble and stone wall and floor tiles in all wet areas.

"Importantly, the owner was delighted with the final outcome. Much of our work comes from repeat business and we are proud of that."
