The person at the front desk of a company is often referred to as the director of first impressions. It may sound like a joke, but there is truth in the saying. Likewise, first impressions are formed at the front door of your home so why not dress to impress?

William Russell Doors is a specialist division of Corinthian Doors. The company's field of expertise is made-to-order, Australian native timber architectural-quality doors. However, while this niche market remains one of its core activities, it also specialises in making architectural-quality doors, which are usually reserved for designer homes, available for the wider market, says Corinthian's marketing services manager Stephen Dunn.

"For more than 50 years, William Russell Doors has been well regarded for the quality craftsmanship of its entrance and internal doors," he says. "The contrasting colours and grains of sassafras, blackwood, myrtle, ash, jarrah and Tasmanian oak are used to form contemporary combinations that range from subtle to bold."

Four styles from William Russell Doors feature on these pages: Metro entrance and internal, Fusion metal entrance, and SoHo internal.

Through use of Australian native timber species, Metro doors provide homes with eye-catching contrasts, however, the door's signature is a subtle highlight of ultra-slim white veneer. Metro entrance doors complement the internal range, allowing a theme to start at the front door and continue through the home. There are three designs in the Metro range.

The internal doors are a flush construction with internal frames of select hardwood. They feature William Russell Doors' SoundCore technology to reduce sound transmission and provide lightweight yet solid construction. Entrance doors are sturdy, high-performance, entrance-grade construction.

Fusion Metal entrance doors continue the theme of blending timbers, but also incorporate an eye-catching vertical inlay of brushed stainless steel. Timber options include myrtle, jarrah, blackwood and Victorian ash. The flush construction doors are sturdy, and also feature SoundCore technology to reduce noise transmission.

Premium veneers are the hallmark of SoHo contemporary flush doors. To make them even more distinctive, strips of black laminate and brushed aluminium are used as accents. This range is also a flush door with SoundCore acoustic technology.
