Winning form Hettich top kitchen

When you renovate a kitchen after living in a house for more than 30 years, you have a pretty clear idea of what you want. For the owners of this home, it was functional storage solutions and a warm ambience.

Mint Kitchen Group designed the kitchen, which has become the first winner in the nationwide campaign What's Australia Saying About Hettich, where online visitors were asked to vote for their favourite kitchen.

Head designer Frank Iaria says the client wanted a kitchen that would work for her, was functional in design and layout, and had ample clever storage solutions.

"The space was quite generous, so a large galley-style kitchen seemed the way to go. We placed the sink in the island facing the family area. As the owners entertain frequently, we had to include multiple appliances and a lot of bench space. We also added a butler's pantry with an abundance of shelving."

The wall above the cooktop has a large floating cabinet with Hettich LED Versa strip lighting from the Magic collection contrasting a digitally printed designer glass splashback. The low-voltage LED light gives off virtually no heat and uses a minimal amount of energy.

The kitchen features InnoTech drawer systems from Hettich, which suit the open-plan layout and the sleek aesthetic look of the kitchen.

"These drawers provide a variety of custom storage solutions," says Iaria. They incorporates Hettich's high-quality Quadro drawer runners, which ensure the drawers always run smoothly.

"We added Hettich's award-winning Sensys integrated soft-close hinge system, which is innovative in terms of both its aesthetics and functionality."

Several cabinets feature the Hettich P20 mechanism Push to Open which means doors can be opened with a gentle touch. With this mechanism, handles can be eliminated if desired, to reinforce a sleek designer look.

Other Hettich products in this kitchen include the Hettich Twin Bin Pull Out for easy, hygienic rubbish disposal.
