Well connected
This home connects with its environment through a range of natural styled aluminium windows and doors from Windowmakers.
Panoramic viewing windows
The substancial double sliding doors from Windowmakers mean the house can open up to the scenery and sun on the eastern deck or the afternoon sun and views of the pohutukawas and valley on the north-west deck.
A passion for design
“Here, the design intention was to achieve a modern look using traditional materials and create a spacious feel inside,” says Paul Keen, Windowmakers Project Manager.
Natural styled aluminium windows and doors
The majority of the joinery was manufactured using FIRST® Metro Series. Hardware used is Urbo range in Natural Silver.
A natural colour palette
Architect Robyn Bilkey chose anodised aluminium joinery, from Windowmakers’ FIRST® APL Architectural Series, to complement the home’s natural colour palette – grey pre-cast concrete panels mimicking the striations of the cliff below the home.
Eastern views
Eastern views are enjoyed from the formal living area and deck as well as the master bedroom. The western sun is enjoyed in the casual living area, on the sheltered, louvred deck and study.
Nestled amongst mature pohutakawa trees
The custom front door melds into the exterior with distinctive stained cedar battens mounted on this plasma panel FIRST® APL Architectural Series door.
Maximum viewing opportunities
The home is designed for maximum views and sun, with main rooms arranged around the north axis – as such, window and door treatments were a key part of its success.
Collaborative successes
Windowmakers played a vital part in ensuring her vision for the house was fulfilled from start to finish. Working closely with architects, owners and building companies to achieve the right look for their designs is a passion for all Windowmakers project managers.
Referencing New Zealand’s classic baches
“The finish is also a reference to the old black baches with white joinery of New Zealand’s classic and casual mid-century.” says architect Robyn Bilkey.
