Heirloom furniture frequently graces the more formal areas of a home, but there's no reason why you can't introduce such pieces to a master bathroom or powder room.

Kohler has released a new range of vanities that reinforce the value of traditional craftsmanship. These vanities are crafted from premium hardwoods and veneers, and feature dovetail drawer boxes and, for some models, detailed moldings.

To ensure there is a collection to suit every style of home, Kohler offers a variety of designs Thistledown¢, Mersing¢, Ballard¢ and Provinity¢, which range from traditional to contemporary, and from country to tropical. The bathroom furniture also comes in an array of woods and finishes, including North American knotty pine, bamboo and Burmese mahogany.

Michael Terrill, senior product manager for Kohler furniture, says the new vanities can be paired with a new Kohler one-piece Iron/Impressions cast iron basin, which is integrated with a generously sized vanity top.

"With the introduction of Kohler vanities and Iron/Impressions basin-vanity tops, Kohler has created a turnkey solution for homeowners who want to create a grooming area in the bathroom that reflects sophisticated style," he says. "The vanities also solve the age-old problem of bathroom storage, and they have the durability needed in a moisture-laden bathroom environment."

Terrill says the vanities feature specially selected, catalyzed polyurethane finishes and moisture-resistant materials. In addition, standard vanity sizing ensures customers can easily retrofit these cabinets into existing bathrooms when remodeling.

Other features include full-extension drawers with a soft-close operation. There are also coordinating wall mirrors to complete the look.

Kohler Iron/Impressions cast iron basin-vanity tops are available with square or oval sinks, in a palette of both light and deep, vibrant colors.

"The smooth, easy-to-clean surface of these basins and vanity tops maintains a lustrous finish that's only achievable with cast iron," says Terrill.

The basins come in a variety of sizes, and are designed to fit the standard industry width of most vanities. They are also pre-drilled for single-hole, 4-inch centerset or 8-inch widespread faucets.
