Achieving the much-sought after indoor -outdoor flow is important if a house is to have year-round functionality. The concrete flooring in this house has been grooved to give the impression of being large flagstones, which visually links the outdoors to the indoors. This ensures that even when the weather is bad and the glass doors are shut, there is still a visual connection to the outdoors.

The owners chose Peter Fell concrete for its durability and creative colouring. It was important that the house not only be functional, but also have a continuity of look and feel that would enhance the indoor-outdoor flow.

Shannon Shattock, marketing manager at Peter Fell, says that one of the strengths of their flooring is its inherent suitability to the Kiwi lifestyle.

"As New Zealanders, we traditionally spend a great deal of time outdoors. We like to get both our hands and our feet dirty, and we don't like the surroundings of our homes to get in the way of our outdoor lifestyles," she says.

"At Peter Fell, we design our productsaccordingly. We want our floors to be hard-wearing, easy to maintain, and on top of that, we want to them to integrate easily into the lifestyle of the modern home entertainer," she says.

The Peter Fell coloured concrete was used continuously throughout the house, starting at the front door, moving all the way through the living areas, and out around the swimming pool.
