Few things in life are more infuriating than having to sacrifice aesthetics for functionality, or vice versa. When it came to window treatments, it was usually a case of all or nothing you either got the view or not.

There are, however, occasions when having only one type of blind isn't sufficient. Luckily there is a simple solution that offers total control in a compact, efficient system, says Dennis Matthews, New Zealand sales manager for Window Treatments NZ Ltd.

"Double roller brackets enable you to operate two different types of blinds off the one bracket. During the day you can use the sunscreen blind, which will give privacy and protect your furniture and carpet from harmful UV rays, while still allowing you to see out.

"At night, or when needed, you can roll down the blockout blind to give you total privacy."

"Before we had the double brackets we had to try and install two separate blinds, which sometimes wasn't possible. Using the double brackets makes the end result extremely neat and tidy," says Matthews.

Window Treatments NZ Ltd, the largest independent blind, shutter, and awning manufacturer in New Zealand, has been manufacturing a full complement of blinds for more than 20 years, says Matthews.

The company's range of roller blinds utilises lightweight, Mermet sunscreen fabrics, which consist of a PVC outer coating over a fibreglass core. These fabrics have been shown to reduce energy consumption by up to 33% as they are designed to reflect between 74% and 100% of UV rays, depending upon the colour chosen and composition of each fabric.

Window Treatments NZ Ltd products are sold on a manufacturer-direct basis through a series of nationwide showrooms and consultants. The entire range is produced in the company's Christchurch plant, which also manufactures most of the components used, including the double brackets. This means that, if needed, replacement parts are sourced in a timely and cost-effective manner.
