Transparent success
Redeveloping 21 Queen Street to create an environmentally sustainable, premium-grade office building is the aim of AMP NZ Office Trust
Designing a building that is environmentally sustainable calls for commitment from all those involved, right from the earliest stages of the project.
As New Zealand's largest listed vehicle investing solely in commercial property, AMP NZ Office Trust (ANZO) has had a clear vision for 21 Queen Street in Auckland's CBD since acquiring it in 2007.
"We wanted to create a building of light, a structure with a transparent elegance for the centre of Auckland. This went hand in hand with our other commitment to provide the highest possible quality office accommodation with the least effect on the environment," says ANZO asset manager Hamish McCulloch.
To achieve its aim, the Trust is teaming up with consulting engineers Norman Disney Young, and Peddle Thorp Architects to provide a building that will have a 5 Star Green Star rating for environmental sustainability.
"By creating the best possible management, design, engineering, planning, development and construction team, we will have a world-class result," he says.
