Top of the world
At 92 storeys, it's the tallest residential building in the world. Melbourne's Eureka Tower is also scaling new heights in apartment design and fit-out
Much of the visual impact of a high-rise lies with the facade the combination and repetition of materials on a grand scale. For the 92-storey Eureka Tower, Permasteelisa designed, manufactured and installed the glass and aluminium facade.
Project manager Tony Ricchetti says as well as completing the actual curtain wall, Permasteelisa provided and installed balcony screens, balustrades, winter gardens and ground-floor glazing for the restaurant and showroom tenancies. Curtain wall materials include double glazing, composite cladding, and aluminium panels with a high-performance powdercoated paint finish. The summit floors, which are nearing completion, feature high-performance gold-coated glass.
Ricchetti says the company specialises in large projects. Other work undertaken includes Federation Square, 101 Collins St, Crown Casino and ANZ Bank World Headquarters, Melbourne.
