To infinity and beyond
This pool's tilework ties with black accents on the home while the infinity edge seems to go on forever, requiring skilled craftsmanship to achieve
A project of grand scale – this beautiful property underwent a transformation when the owners extended the rear of their period home as part of a major renovation to the house and grounds.
High on the wish list was to incorporate a swimming pool and spa that complemented the feel of the rear extension, anchoring it solidly within the vast new gardens – the design of which was produced by one of Melbourne’s most prestigious landscape design studios.

Long running
The highlight of the swimming pool’s design is the infinity edge that extends the entire 12.64m length.
This is raised above ground level, enabling it to double as the pool barrier.
The biggest challenge during construction was maintaining a perfect level along the length of the wall to ensure that a steady sheet of water would cascade evenly over the edge when running.
In keeping
The colour black is seen on the window frames of the extension, on the furniture and for the exposed steel frame of the alfresco.
Using black ceramic tiles for the swimming pool interior, spa and infinity edge creates a continuity that ties the landscape to the built structures in the garden.
Upon reflection
A swimming pool tiled in black creates a deep, lagoon like effect and enhances the reflectivity of the water surface.
