TIDA 2019 New Zealand Architect-designed Kitchen of the Year Winner – Eliska Lewis Architects

Being a geologist, the owner of this new home wanted a black and timber kitchen with an emphasis on natural stone – and a design that complemented the surrounding mountain vistas and environment that envelops the property. 

Warm oak timber cabinets and flooring provide a backdrop for the dark, honed marble slab that turns the waterfall island into a feature art-piece. 

Recessed track lighting above the benchtop provides both task and mood lighting, which also highlights detail in the rich countertop. 

The judges were impressed with how the kitchen integrates into the wider living spaces, including with an interior courtyard, while also maximising views to the lake.
