The high life

Houses at St Patrick's Estate are as well appointed in terms of appliances as they are in location and architectural design. European appliances were specified for all the kitchens in the development.

Miele appliances provide both the aesthetics and the level of functionality required by the architects, says Miele's national project manager Rob Warner.

"Specified in sleek stainless steel finishes, they include the Miele 90cm multi-function oven, Ceran glass cooktop, and the fully integrated Miele dishwasher," says Warner. "Clients also had the choice of a built-in steam oven or the Miele CombiOven."

While these high-end appliances reflect the designer look appropriate to the architecturally designed homes, their functionality is only really appreciated in day-to-day living. The 90cm multifunction oven, for example, offers 9 functions, electronic controls, double-sided oven illumination and a recommended temperatures prompt. Catalytic rear and roof liners ensure the ovens are easy to clean.

The fully integrated dishwasher has touch pad controls, six programmes, an auto sensor, a through-flow water heater and a fourteen-place settings capacity.

The Miele ceramic hob unit, set in a stainless steel frame, also looks part of the family. This appliance provides removable, enamelled cast iron pan supports, front-mounted rotary control dials, and a variety of burners. These comprise a wok burner, fast burner, two normal burners and a simmer burner. Other features include a Thermo-electric ignition control and flame failure cut-out.

Both the Miele built-in steam cooker and microwave CombiOven offer a huge range of automatic programmes, Navitronic dialogue controls and turn-and-push function selection. Like all Miele appliances, the ovens are designed to have a life span of 20 years under average household use.
