The height of cool
Apartment living is all about lifestyle choices, which is why the new apartments at The Waterfront, Sydney are equipped with the latest Fisher & Paykel appliances
Much of the appeal of modern apartment living can be traced to the simple, carefree lifestyle and the sleek, uncluttered, contemporary interiors.
This is certainly the case at The Waterfront apartments in Sydney, developed by Payce Consolidated, where open, light-filled living spaces and natural materials complement a much sought-after location.
Kitchens are also a key selling point for The Waterfront, says development manager Chris Ryan.
"There is a definite expectation that the kitchens will be equally upmarket, and well equipped for entertaining," Ryan says. "For this reason, we specified stainless steel Fisher & Paykel appliances. Their contemporary styling fits with the interior design. Our decision was also based on experience Payce Consolidated specifies Fisher & Paykel appliances for nearly all its projects. The past performance and reliability of the appliances make them an obvious choice for our developments."
Pride of place in the kitchen of the apartment shown here is the large, Fisher & Paykel E522B, 522-litre refrigerator. This features the distinctive Iridium satin finish, which repels fingermarks.
Steve Reid, national marketing manager for Fisher & Paykel, says a bottom-mount, frost-free model, which features the freezer beneath the fridge compartment, is the most popular and practical option.
"Fisher & Paykel was the first company to introduce such a model, which is now standard across the industry," he says.
"Active Smart intelligence technology that continually adjusts the flow of cold air based on daily usage and climatic conditions, ensures food quickly reaches a safe temperature for maintaining freshness."
Other features specific to this range include humidity-control vegetable storage bins, which allow fruits and vegetables to be stored for up to two weeks.
The modern styling and functionality of Fisher & Paykel's BI602E oven helped determine its selection for this project. This oven features high-grade stainless steel and has a generous 60-litre capacity.
"With eight separate cooking functions, it offers many ways to express your creativity in the kitchen," says Reid. "It is also easy to maintain a drop-down grill element makes cleaning a breeze."
The oven is paired with the GC600WFC 600mm gas cooktop, which has four burners, including a wok burner. Cast iron trivets ensure it is both durable and eye-catching. The cooktop has the added advantage of an automatic flame-failure detector.
The Fisher & Paykel RH600SO rangehood ensures steam and cooking odours don't hang around for long. A discreet, matching stainless steel, slide-out rangehood with a powerful two-speed fan, this model offers the option of either a ducted of recirculating operation.
Kitchens at The Waterfront are also equipped with the Fisher & Paykel DW681ES stainless steel dishwasher, which has four wash programmes and accommodates a full 12-place setting. Known as Nemo, the dishwasher has a three-star energy rating.
