Surface impact

Work surfaces make a strong visual impact in the kitchen, so they need to look great and stand up to the knocks of daily use.

"The texture options available include linen, chequer and canvas as well as the traditional satin surfaces," says Francis. "These patterns can be combined with various edge treatments, including square, rolled bull nose, and softened edges to create an array of customised solutions."

The textured pattern adds durability to the stainless steel, making the work surface impervious to knife scrapes and knocks.

Builder Rudy Van Baarle chose a checker stainless steel finish for his own kitchen project, shown on this page.

"I went with work surfaces from Brightworks Stainless for their impact and strength," says Van Baarle. "This project called for two columns finished in polished stainless steel and a chequer benchtop recessed into a window alcove."

Pleasing to the touch and to look at, Brightworks surfaces are available with sink inserts, inset spillways and drainers.
