The roof is the crowning glory of your home, so when it comes to replacing it, the choice of materials needs to complement the existing architecture. For a home to have street appeal, consider a classic vitrified ceramic tile, prized since pre-Egyptian times.

Nu-lok's roofing system makes installation of vitrified ceramic roof tiles easy and affordable, says Peter Lewis, general manager of Nu-lok Roofing Systems (NSW).

"Whether it's a modern home or heritage property, the natural beauty of ceramic tiles will enhance its appearance, at the same time being functional.

"With Nu-lok's roofing system, architects, builders and homeowners can install lightweight but strong ceramic tiles on any project to achieve the look of slate without the price tag," he says.

Lewis says a fully-laid ceramic tiled roof weighs only 27kg/m². Classified under the light timber framing code, it means a saving on roof construction costs.

"Nu-lok ceramic tiles are baked at 1200°C. This means they are exceptionally strong and durable. and can be walked on during installation," he says.

Nu-lok has added ash grey to the vitrified ceramic stone option. The Nu-lok system can also incorporate natural slate Welsh, Spanish del Carmen, or almost any other. Slate combined with Nu-lok's high grade metal materials will give a heritage look that lasts a life time, says Lewis.

A number of roof capping options are also available using the Nu-lok system. Flat and roll-top colorbond, close mitre and terracotta are some options, but almost any variation can be installed, says Lewis.
