A few simple curves bring a distinct character to this Italian-influenced kitchen
Once in a while, a single architectural feature brings such a distinctive look to a room that it makes sense for all interior design to revolve around it.
In this kitchen, a circular exterior wall was the stand-out feature, says kitchen designer Charles Spiteri of Italcrafts.
"The circular lines give a distinctive aesthetic to the kitchen, although it was technically challenging," he says. "The other strong design influence here is Italian. Upper-level cabinetry is scattered, rather than placed symmetrically in a solid block, and the overall look and colour palette is understated and simple."
Italcrafts managed the project from initial design consultation to installation. Plans were produced using computer software, enabling the homeowner to visualise the kitchen in 3D. The custom designs were then manufactured locally before being fitted by the Italcrafts team.
"Our approach enabled us to work within the kitchen's unusual shape for example, we fitted the CaesarStone benchtop so that it follows the exact lines of the curved cabinetry," says Spiteri.
Italcrafts designs and manufactures high-end kitchens. Visitors to the company's showroom can also view kitchens from La Germania, Neff, and others.
