Alucobond was specified for the feature staircase
A feature staircase that leads from level two to level four is clad in Alucobond, a composite aluminium cladding product sourced and installed by Panadell Architectural Cladding Systems.
Alucobond is becoming a popular choice for internal fit-outs, says David Griffith.
"Increasingly, architects are choosing Alucobond for its aesthetic effect. It's also lightweight, easy to install and maintain, and has a long lifespan," he says.
The company installed Alucobond cladding in 1.2 x 2.4m panels on the walls and sides of the stairs. The panels were first attached to a stud and track system, also installed by the company, that allows each panel to be removed easily.
A white polyurethane sealant was then applied between each of the panels, which also have a white paint finish that is maintenance-free.
Installation of the cladding was complex, says Griffith, as extensive detailing around the stairs involved folding the aluminium composite three ways.
The company also sourced and installed Alucobond for the underside of a 200m² external awning that covers nearly half of the outdoor deck area on level four. The panels here are coated in the same white paint as was used for the feature staircase, but they are up to 3.6m long.
