Slice of paradise Northerly Apartments in Brisbane
Northerly Apartments by Middle Street Properties
There has never been a better time to consider a move to a new apartment development. With the modern emphasis on lifestyle factors, you can often be assured that every aspect, from the architectural design to the landscaping, has been planned to the nth degree.
Northerly Apartments in Cleveland, Brisbane is such a development. The project's credentials start with the location, often said to be the first, second and third most important consideration when buying a new home.
Middle Street Properties, the developer, chose to build on an elevated site in the old Cleveland town area, which is only a 40-minute drive from Brisbane CBD.
The development sits within lush, green parklands boasting many mature trees. And because the development is just 200m from the oceanfront, there are spectacular views across Raby Bay from the top level. Middle Street director Steven Duchen says Northerly Apartments was specifically designed by Think Tank Architects to respond to this location.
"We wanted to create a secure, village-style development that would never date, but would have an enduring appeal," Duchen says. "Combining traditional and contemporary elements gives the apartments a strong individual identity and a real point of difference. Sandstone cladding, classical proportions, and detailed columns and fountains all contribute to the upmarket atmosphere."
A large porte cochére also gives Northerly Apartments a welcoming, resort-style feel.
"The rich environment is enhanced by attention to detail," says Duchen. "For example, there is a specially created fish-scale texture on some facades, and many tranquil landscaping features. There are places for residents to relax in the gardens or enjoy the view from a vantage point.
"Other amenities include heated indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, gymnasium, sauna, barbecue facilities, a day spa and cafe, and meeting and function rooms."
The interior of the 87 200m² apartments and five 515m² penthouses also reflects the emphasis on lifestyle factors. Spacious, flowing interiors open out to large balconies.
"The residences have been designed to appeal to a wide market," says Duchen. "For example, they are well suited to empty-nesters who want to do away with the hassle and upkeep of a family home, but don't want to compromise on space or style."
