Right at hand
Everything in its place, and a place for everything. This new kitchen by Denele Design features a variety of innovative space-saving solutions
Compact kitchens can be very user-friendly. A small work triangle means everything is within arm's length and with the right design there can still be plenty of bench space and storage.
Michele Denyer, CKD/CBDNZ, of Denele Design in Auckland, demonstrated just how effective such a design can be with this project, which won a Dux Industries kitchen design competition.
Black granite benchtops wrap the perimeter of the room and complement the light grey Arborline cabinetry. Glass splashbacks reflect the light, enhancing the sense of space.
The kitchen incorporates plenty of storage. Drawers have Blum full-extension runners to ensure the entire space inside can be utilised.
Another space-saving feature is the Oliveri Nu-Petite NP650U stainless steel undermount sink from Dux Industries.
"This sink has a good-sized bowl that is big enough to wash large dishes and oven trays," says Denyer. "The Nu-Petite does away with the need for a second sink. It also comes with valuable optional accessories, including a chopping board, draining tray and colander, that help make the best use of the bench space."
