Similarly, the relationship between designer Leslie Saul and the owners has evolved, thanks to an ongoing series of remodeling projects Image of the interior of this home designed by Leslie Saul & Associates. Historic homes have a character all of their own one that reflects the passing of time and the different generations who have lived beneath the roof.Designer Leslie Saul of Leslie Saul & Associates says much of the charm of such homes can be attributed to the additions and renovations that are carried out over time. It's a look that helped determine a major remodeling project for this house.Although the original house is just 30 years old, the renovations acknowledge the historic neighborhood."The new wing with the tall windows has a Greek Revival look, while a new octagonal room at the rear has more of a Victorian feel," says Saul. "Mixing these styles with the original Federal-style architecture helps convey the sense of a house that has evolved over time." The designer has forged a close relationship with the homeowners, resulting in a series of ongoing renovation projects on average one every two years."The designer-client relationship always works best when there is a true collaboration and partnership," says Saul. It's a vision backed by owner K Cara Maxwell, who says the interior design combines sophistication and simplicity."The design is grand without being pretentious," she says. "It also reflects the designer's fun, energetic, fresh approach." Image of the interior of this home designed by Leslie Saul & Associates.
