A kitchen should look like a seamless part of the home, reflecting the lifestyle and passions of the owners. This may be achieved by designing a kitchen to incorporate details from the rest of the home, or with features inspired by the interests of the owners.

Since 1963, Nu Trend Cabinet Company has fabricated and installed fine custom architectural cabinetry and millwork built to specification.

Marketing manager Deborah Carata says the company has no product lines or collections, which is why its kitchens can be specifically designed to suit the preferences of individual homeowners.

The kitchen featured above is a good example of this. The goal was to make the kitchen functional and convenient, but with a design that would blend in with the millwork of a 100-year-old landmark home. Stained, glazed and slightly distressed maple cabinetry, decorative tipped finial butt hinges on cabinets, and a classic butcher block table add to the sense of history of the kitchen, says Carata.

A more contemporary design, right, was produced for a cellist, who wanted cabinetry made with wood of the same beauty as that used for his musical instruments. Nu Trend Cabinet Company created a simple, linear design and teamed it with slip-matched, ribbon mahogany with a high-gloss, clear finish to achieve this.

The skilled craftsmen at Nu Trend Cabinet Company can create any style of kitchen, from period retrofits to contemporary design. Project managers, cabinetmakers, expert finishers and professional installers work together as a coordinated team to ensure all projects are finished to a high standard.
