Relaxed pad
Punches of bright colour and patterned surfaces are offset against neutral tones, creating a casual, modern look in this Location Homes showhome
Without the sights and sounds of the beach or forest, creating the feeling of a holiday home on an urban site might seem like an impossible challenge.
However, interior designers Yellowfox have done just that for this Location Homes showhome, creating a design that captures the relaxation and casual brightness of the family bach, on an inner-city site. Designer Jenny Harris says colour played a big part in creating a sense of ambience.
"Many showhomes have colour schemes made up of neutrals and whites. In this one, we introduced areas of brighter colour, which carry through the rooms."
A Decoglaze glass splashback in Paprika is a key feature of the open-plan kitchen and living area. This red can also be seen in the ensuite bathroom, which has a feature wall of Diesel Pebble glass mosaic tiles from Tile Warehouse.
For visual interest and an intimate feel in the bedrooms, patterned wallpapers from Vision Wallcoverings' Carnaby range have been used behind the bedheads.
More neutral tones have been chosen for the walls and floors, such as a Brindle carpet from the Norman Ellison St Tropez range, to offset the bright features.
Yellowfox has many strong associations in the building sector, says Harris.
"This means if there is anything we can't provide our clients, we can refer them to a specialist in that field."
