What makes a house a home? It's the fabric we choose for our furniture, the cabinetry we select for our kitchen, or even the tile we use to cover a patio. It's the personal statements and individual choices we make that create our own personalised interiors.Today, a new brand of luxury consumer is helping to redefine the design industry at every level, says Alexis Contant, vice president of marketing at the Boston Design Center."Never before has the demand for good design been so high," she says. "To cater to this new generation of design enthusiasts and to give greater choice, involvement and access, the Boston Design Center created the Plush Membership Program."The Boston Design Center is a to-the-trade-only source for design industry professionals, such as interior designers, architects, contractors and retailers. "It is New England's largest and most significant destination for high-end home furnishings, with over 1200 luxury product lines represented in 87 showrooms including fabric, furniture, wall and floor coverings, lighting, antiques, kitchen and bathroom design," says Contant. The Plush membership program allows consumers to browse the showrooms, consult with an interior designer, customize their design choices and purchase specific merchandise."The program is designed for someone who is looking for an experience, as simple as product purchasing, or as all encompassing as a complete home or office renovation," says Contant.Plush members receive four hours of design consultation with one of the 20 independent designers in the BDC's Designer-on-Call program, with additional hours billed at a standard rate. Designers-On-Call are experienced, industry accredited design professionals. "Working with a good designer is one of the best investments you can make saving valuable time and avoiding costly mistakes."Membership also offers access to merchandise unavailable elsewhere, special pricing, private member-only events, and advance notice of sample sales."Most of all, Plush lets you be as involved in the design process as you'd like to be," she says. For further information, contact the Boston Design Center, One Design Center Place, Suite 337, Boston, MA 02210, phone 877-SO-PLUSH.
